VMware 2V0-51.23 Exam - Topic 3 Question 27 Discussion

Actual exam question for VMware's 2V0-51.23 exam
Question #: 27
Topic #: 3
[All 2V0-51.23 Questions]

In a load balanced Horizon POD with three Connection Servers, there are 450 active Blast sessions connected. What happens if one of these Connection Servers runs into an unplanned outage?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: A

Global Entitlements in VMware Horizon allow for the aggregation of resources across multiple pods and sites into a single entitlement. This feature is particularly beneficial when publishing applications that are hosted across different pods, as it ensures that users see only one icon for the application, regardless of which pod it is hosted on, simplifying the user experience and administration of applications in a multi-pod Horizon environment.

Definitely not A or C, those seem extreme!

I heard that if the tunnel is disabled, it could cause issues.

Wait, are you sure? What if they all get kicked off?

Yeah, I agree with that! Makes sense.

I think only the sessions from the failed server get disconnected.

I think option B is definitely wrong because I remember that HTTPS Secure Tunnel is usually enabled. But I’m not confident about what happens to the sessions during an outage.

I’m leaning towards option A, but I’m a bit uncertain. I recall that outages can cause disconnections, but I’m not sure if it’s all sessions or just some.

I’m not entirely sure, but I feel like option D could be right since it mentions only the sessions from the failed server. That sounds familiar from our practice questions.

I think if one Connection Server goes down, it might not affect all 450 sessions. I remember something about session persistence in load balancing.

I'm a bit confused on this one. I know load balancing is supposed to provide redundancy, but I'm not sure if that means all the sessions will stay connected or if only the ones from the failed server will be disconnected. I'll have to review the Horizon concepts again.

Okay, I've got this. If one Connection Server fails, the other two should be able to handle the active sessions without disconnecting them. The HTTPS Secure Tunnel and Blast Secure Gateway should keep the sessions active.

Hmm, this is a tricky one. I'm not entirely sure what happens when a Connection Server fails in a load balanced environment. I'll need to think through the different options carefully before deciding.

I think the key here is to understand how load balancing and redundancy work in a Horizon POD. If one Connection Server fails, the other two should be able to handle the sessions, so I'm guessing the active sessions won't all be disconnected.

I bet the developers had a good laugh when they came up with these answer options. 'Disconnect all the things!' is clearly not the desired behavior.

Ah, now this sounds more reasonable. Only the sessions on the failed server should be impacted, while the others stay connected.

Logging off all 450 sessions immediately seems a bit extreme. I'd expect the load balancer to handle the failover more gracefully.

I don't think that's correct. HTTPS Secure Tunnel and Blast Secure Gateway are essential for maintaining the Blast sessions, even in a load-balanced environment.

Option A seems the most likely, as the Connection Server is responsible for managing the Blast sessions. If one server goes down, the load balancer should redirect the sessions to the remaining servers.

I'm not sure, but it's important to have a backup plan in case a Connection Server goes down.

That's a good point, maybe the sessions can stay connected if the load balancer handles it.
