Scrum Exam PSPO-I Topic 2 Question 21 Discussion

Actual exam question for Scrum's PSPO-I exam
Question #: 21
Topic #: 2
[All PSPO-I Questions]

Who determines how many Product Backlog items the Developers select for a Sprint?

(choose the best answer)

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: D

The Scrum Guide states that ''the Increment is the sum of all the Product Backlog items completed during a Sprint and the value of the increments of all previous Sprints''. It also states that ''at the end of a Sprint, the new Increment must be 'Done', which means it must be in useable condition and meet the Scrum Team's definition of 'Done'''. Therefore, the Scrum Team must deliver a valuable, useful Increment that meets the Definition of Done at the end of a Sprint. The other options are not acceptable, as they do not meet the criteria of being valuable, useful, or done.

E) The stakeholders attending Sprint Planning. Well, if I'm going to be micromanaged, I might as well invite the entire company to the meeting.

A) The Scrum Team. Aha, that makes sense. The whole Scrum Team collaborates to select the appropriate amount of work for a Sprint.

D) The Scrum Master. Come on, the Scrum Master is there to facilitate, not call the shots on the Sprint Backlog.

B) The Developers. Really? The Developers determine how much work they can commit to in a Sprint? Sounds like a recipe for disaster.

C) The Product Owner. Seems like the obvious choice, as the Product Owner is responsible for managing the Product Backlog.

I agree with Janella. The Developers should have the autonomy to decide how many Product Backlog items they can commit to in a Sprint.

I think it's B) The Developers because they are responsible for delivering the Increment.
