I'm not entirely sure, but I feel like using a Chatter Group (option B) could create a lot of noise. Would volunteers actually keep track of their hours there?

Hmm, I'm a little confused on this one. I know Splunk has different ways to organize data, but I'm not sure if Host, Sourcetype, Index, or Source is the right answer. I'll have to think this through carefully.
