Blocking transitions with a validation rule sounds complicated. I don’t recall us covering that as a best practice for this scenario.

I'm pretty sure OSPF supports Point-to-Point, Non-Broadcast Multi-Access, and Broadcast network types. I think Point-to-Multipoint is also one, but I'm not 100% certain.
