I think the key is to reduce the signal degradation over the long distance. Low-noise amplifiers might be a good choice to boost the signal and improve the SNR.
Okay, let's see. I'm pretty sure the answer has to do with the physical layer, not encryption. Soft-decision FEC could help, but I'm not sure if that's the best option here.
Emailing the current state documentation and an agenda ahead of time seems like a smart way to set the stage for the workshops. That way, everyone can come prepared to discuss the future state.
D) L1 encryption? Really? I don't think that's gonna do anything for the latency. Maybe if we're trying to keep the data secure, but not for reducing latency.
