Question #: 64
Topic #: 2
[All 4A0-116 Questions]

Which of the following statements about Multi-Protocol Label Switching networks is FALSE?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: D

The data is transparently carried from end to end: This statement is not true, MPLS does not provide data transparency, which means that the data is not carried unmodified from end to end. MPLS uses labels to forward data, so the original IP packets are encapsulated in new MPLS packets, and the original IP headers are not visible at the egress LSR.

I’m confused about B; I thought LSRs forwarded based on IP addresses, but maybe they do use MPLS labels too?

I practiced a similar question where we discussed how data is carried in MPLS, and I think D is definitely true.

I’m not entirely sure, but I feel like LSPs are supposed to be uni-directional, which could make C false.

I think I remember that MPLS does use a signaling protocol, so A might be true.
