Nah, I don't think so. A data warehouse and OLAP are more for aggregating and analyzing large datasets, not handling individual transactions. This is textbook OLTP, no doubt about it.
Hmm, I'm not so sure. What if the bank is also using this data to generate reports and analytics? Couldn't this also be considered a data warehouse or OLAP solution?
I agree with Eliseo. OLTP is the right choice here. These types of applications need to handle a high volume of individual, atomic transactions quickly and reliably.
This is clearly a case of online transaction processing (OLTP). The banking application is responsible for handling real-time, individual transactions like money transfers, which is the core function of OLTP systems.
