By default, which statement is correct about OSPF summary LSAs?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: C

OSPF uses different types of LSAs to describe different aspects of the network topology. Type 1 LSAs are also known as router LSAs, and they describe the links and interfaces of a router within an area. Type 3 LSAs are also known as summary LSAs, and they describe routes to networks outside an area but within the same autonomous system (AS). By default, OSPF will summarize routes from Type 1 LSAs into Type 3 LSAs when advertising them across area boundaries .

I'm going with option D. It just makes the most sense to me. Plus, who doesn't love a good summary route?

I'm not so sure, I think option A might be the correct one. Summarizing into a single LSA seems logical.

I think option D is correct too. It's all about that lowest metric.

Wait, did they say 'summanzed' in the question? I hope the real exam doesn't have any typos like that!

I think the correct answer is D) The metric associated with a summary route will be equal to the lowest metric associated with an individual contributing route.

Hmm, I'm not sure about this one. Maybe option C is the correct answer? Type 3 LSAs are advertised for routes in Type 1 LSAs, right?

I believe it's D as well, the summary route metric is based on the lowest contributing route.

I disagree, I believe option B is the correct answer. The area-range command must be installed on all routers to enable summary LSAs.

Yes, without the area-range command, routers won't be able to generate summary LSAs.
