IIBA CBAP Exam - Topic 3 Question 71 Discussion

Actual exam question for IIBA's CBAP exam
Question #: 71
Topic #: 3
[All CBAP Questions]

Company A is a nation-wide leader in commercial demolition. Having just celebrated its 100th year of operations, the company decided to begin doing work internationally. The current system used for reporting company finances is unable to keep pace with the potential demands of doing work in geographically dispersed locations. Therefore, the company decided to replace its client-based Profit & Loss (P&L) reporting system with a more robust, web-based system. This will ensure transparency across the organization and enable better decision making.

The business analyst (BA) at Company A has recently completed several rounds of elicitation to determine the requirements for the new, web-based system. Over 1250 requirements were elicited. An initial Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) has been drafted, and a subset of the RTM can be seen below:

The risk associated with Requirement ID F-P0001 is HIGH. The BA has gone back to the Crew Chief to determine why this requirement's risk is HIGH. The Crew Chief stated that it was based on an assumption.

Which of the following assumptions would make this requirement's risk high?

Not sure if the cost vs. benefit assumption is valid without more info.

Wait, are they really assuming the system won't work in remote areas?

I feel like the complexity of the web-based interface could also be a reason for high risk, but I’m not completely confident about that.

This question reminds me of a practice scenario we did where user training was a big concern. I wonder if that applies here too.

I’m not entirely sure, but I think if the system is inaccessible in remote locations, that could definitely raise the risk level.

I remember we discussed how assumptions can significantly impact project risks, especially in tech implementations.

I'm not too familiar with Jenkins, so this is a bit tricky for me. I'll have to make an educated guess and go with option D, since none of the other options seem quite right.

Okay, let me think this through step-by-step. The question is asking about emptying the contents of a StringBuilder variable, so I need to look for the method that will do that. I'm leaning towards one of the `delete()` options, but I'll double-check the wording to make sure.

I'm leaning towards option C as the right choice based on what we studied, but I wouldn't be surprised if they threw a trick question in there.

I bet the Crew Chief is just happy they're not asking him to operate the wrecking ball anymore. This new web-based system sounds a lot less physical labor!

Haha, the cost outweighing the benefits? That's a risk I think every company faces when implementing new technology. But hey, at least they're trying to modernize and keep up with the times!

Hmm, the web-based interface being complex could also be a high-risk assumption. Too complicated of a system might be hard for the crews to use, especially if they require specialized training.

I agree, C is the most likely answer. If the system can't be accessed in remote areas, that could seriously impact the company's ability to report finances across all their international locations.

The system being inaccessible in remote locations seems like a reasonable assumption that could make the requirement high risk. Working internationally, they'll need to ensure the system is accessible everywhere.
