Option B? I mean, the auditor should have a solid understanding of the technical aspects, but in this case, the soft skills seem more important to resolve the disagreement.

I think option D is key here. The auditor needs to maintain their independence and confidentiality, even if it means including the original recommendation in the report.

Definitely option A. As an internal auditor, you need to be able to communicate effectively and collaborate with the managers to find a solution, even if they disagree with your assessment.
