What are two roles of a Certificate Authority (CA) in a trusted third-party CA certificate? (Select two.)

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: B, A

1. to provide validation of certificate requests: A CA is responsible for verifying the identity of an entity before issuing a certificate. This includes verifying the entity's identity, such as by checking government-issued identification or business registration documents.

2. to issue a CA-signed Identity certificates: After validating the entity's identity, the CA issues the certificate, which is signed by the CA's private key. This certificate can be used to authenticate the identity of the entity, establish trust and secure communication.

I think CAs also manage the revocation of certificates, but I’m not confident if that counts as one of the roles.

I feel like we had a question similar to this in our last review session. Maybe something about trust establishment?

I remember something about CAs validating identities, but I can't recall if that's one of the answers we practiced.

I think one role of a CA is to issue digital certificates, but I'm not completely sure about the second one.

I'm pretty confident the CA is responsible for generating the public-private key pairs for the certificates too. That's an important part of their duties.

I remember learning about this in class. The CA also needs to maintain a database of valid certificates and revoke them if necessary. That's two key roles, I believe.

Okay, let me think this through. The CA needs to authenticate the identity of the certificate holder and then digitally sign the certificate to vouch for its validity.

Hmm, the CA is involved in establishing trust, right? I know it has something to do with verifying identities and providing a trusted third-party service.

I think the CA's main roles are to issue and manage digital certificates, but I'm not totally sure about the other responsibilities.
