When would an organisation use a VRIO analysis?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: A

VRIO analysis helps an organisation identify internal resources that give it a competitive advantage.

VRIO stands for Value, Rarity, Imitability, Organisation---factors that determine whether a resource can sustain a competitive edge.

It does not focus on benchmarking (C) or performance monitoring (B).

I’m confused because I thought VRIO was more about resources, but I could see how it might relate to benchmarking too. Is that C?

The VRIO analysis seems like a useful tool to assess the organization's strengths and weaknesses compared to competitors. I think option A is the best answer, but I'll double-check the other options just to be sure.

D) To create a vision and mission statement for the organisation. Haha, that's a bit of a stretch. VRIO is more about the present, not the future direction of the company.
