Which of the following categorizations would be correct, according to McFarlan's Strategic Grid, for a system which is critical to sustaining existing business but its future strategic importance is considered to be low?
I'm a bit confused on this one. The wording about "sustaining existing business" and "future strategic importance" has me unsure. I'll have to review my notes on the Grid.
I'd go with D) Factory. It's the workhorse of the business, but doesn't have that 'wow' factor. Kind of like my old car - gets the job done, but no one's gonna write a song about it.
B) Support is the way to go. This system is like the unsung hero - keeps the business running, but doesn't get the spotlight. Kinda like my uncle Bob, he's the 'Support' in our family.
Hmm, I'm not sure about this one. Could it be C) Strategic? If it's critical to the business, it must have some strategic importance, right? *scratches head*
D) Factory seems like the obvious choice here. This system is critical to the current business, but doesn't have a lot of strategic value going forward. Sounds like a classic Factory system to me.
I think B) Support is the correct answer. A system that is critical to sustaining existing business but has low future strategic importance would be categorized as a Support system according to McFarlan's Grid.
