Amazon Exam PAS-C01 Topic 3 Question 53 Discussion

Actual exam question for Amazon's PAS-C01 exam
Question #: 53
Topic #: 3
[All PAS-C01 Questions]

A company needs to migrate its critical SAP workloads from an on-premises data center to AWS The company has a few source production databases that are 10 TB or more in size The company wants to minimize the downtime for this migration

As part of the proof of concept the company used a low-speed high-latency connection between its data center and AWS During the actual migration the company wants to maintain a consistent connection that delivers high bandwidth and low latency. The company also wants to add a layer of connectivity resiliency. The backup connectivity does not need to be as fast as the primary connectivity

An SAP solutions architect needs to determine the optimal network configuration for data transfer. The solution must transfer the data with minimum latency

Which configuration will meet these requirements?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: B

Snowball Edge allows for offline data transfer, which is suitable for cases where there is slow and inconsistent internet connectivity. The data can be transferred to the Snowball Edge device, shipped to the AWS region, and then imported into the new SAP HANA system in the VPC. This is a suitable option for migrating large amounts of data from a remote location to AWS.

I'm not sure about the EFS option in C. Copying the data into a file system and then accessing it from the target environment sounds like it could add unnecessary complexity and latency. B is the clear winner here.

Option A seems like a good backup plan, but it doesn't provide the primary high-bandwidth, low-latency connection that the company needs for the migration. B is definitely the way to go.

That's a good point, Frederic. Option B does offer more redundancy and bandwidth. It's definitely worth considering.

I disagree, I believe option B is better. Multiple Direct Connect connections with LAG can provide higher bandwidth and resiliency.

The correct answer is B. Setting up an AWS Direct Connect gateway with multiple Direct Connect connections using a link aggregation group (LAG) will provide the high bandwidth and low latency required for the migration, while also adding connectivity resiliency with the backup Direct Connect connections.

I think option A is the best choice. Direct Connect with a backup VPN connection seems like a reliable setup.
