Scrum PSM-II Exam - Topic 2 Question 5 Discussion

Actual exam question for Scrum's PSM-II exam
Question #: 5
Topic #: 2
[All PSM-II Questions]

A Scrum Team has been working on a product for several iterations and has an average velocity of 55 units of 'done' work per Sprint. A second team will be added to work on the same product.

What might be the impact on the original team?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: B

Similar to membership changes within a single Scrum Team, adding or removing additional Scrum Teams working on the same product will impact productivity in the short term. Adding additional teams often go through recognizable stages as they change from being a collection of strangers to a united group with common goals. Bruce Tuckman's Forming, Storming, Norming, and Performing model describes these stages.

Wait, how can adding a team not affect their velocity? Sounds off to me!

Their velocity will probably stay the same, they’ve been consistent.

I’m not so sure, could also lead to better collaboration and higher velocity!

Totally agree, adding a second team can complicate things.

I think their velocity might drop. More teams can mean more coordination issues.

I recall something about how team dynamics can change with more people involved, which could potentially affect their performance negatively.

I'm not entirely sure, but I feel like having another team could help with shared knowledge and maybe even boost their velocity.

I think I saw a practice question where the original team's velocity dropped when a new team was added. So, I'm leaning towards option B.

I remember reading that adding a second team can sometimes lead to communication overhead, which might slow down the original team's velocity.

I'm a little unsure about the console.log() approach - is that really the best way to identify performance issues? I feel like the Lightning Inspector might be a more comprehensive tool for this.

Option D about observing team members and advising on relationships could work, but I'm not sure that goes far enough. The team needs more direct facilitation to get through this challenging stage.

Ah, this is a tricky one. I think the key is to focus on the "security of information" part of the goal. That seems to point to the Internal dimension.

Okay, let me think this through. The /proc/ directory is a virtual file system that provides information about the system. I believe it contains one directory per running process, so I'll go with option D.
