C is definitely the reason. Roll-up summary fields can’t exist with lookup relationships.

I thought the organization-wide defaults could affect field types, but I’m not confident that’s the main reason in this scenario.

I practiced a similar question where the relationship type couldn't be changed due to roll-up summaries. Could that be the case here?

I’m not entirely sure, but I think if there are null values in the master field, that might prevent the change too.
