A custom object is the way to go, no doubt. Reminds me of the time I tried to track my sneaker collection on a spreadsheet. Didn't end well.

I think adding roll-up summary fields could also work to calculate the number of retail locations.

I'm a fan of roll-up summary fields, but I think a custom object is the cleanest solution. Keeps everything nicely contained.

Option B sounds like a good idea, but it might get messy if you have a lot of retail locations. Better to keep it separate on a custom object.
