Actual exam question for PMI's PMI-SP exam
Question #: 92
Topic #: 9
[All PMI-SP Questions]

You are the project manager for your organization. Management has asked you to document the holidays, weekends, and other corporate working hours, which will supersede the project timings for your schedule. Which calendar will communicate to the project stakeholders, when the project work will take place within the organization?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: A

The float for Activity I is three days. The early start for Activity I is Day 17 and the late start for

Activity I is Day 20. Therefore, the difference of

the early start and the late start reveals the float as three days. It is possible, and acceptable, to use

the difference of the early finish and the late finish to find the float, as the value will be the same

amount. Answer options B, D, and C are incorrect. These are not the valid calculation for the total

float.

Let's be honest, the company calendar is probably just a fancy name for the organizational calendar. I'm sticking with C, no need to overthink this.

Organizational calendar, for sure. It's the one that'll keep all the stakeholders in the loop about those pesky corporate holidays. No more surprises!

I'm pretty sure the resource calendar is just for individual team members, not the whole organization. So I'm gonna go with the organizational calendar on this one.

Hmm, I'm torn between the organizational calendar and the company calendar. They both sound like they could work, but I'll go with C just to be safe.

I'm not sure, but I think it could also be A) Project calendar because it specifically relates to the project work.

The organizational calendar seems like the obvious choice here. It's specifically designed to capture all the corporate working hours and holiday schedules.
