Actual exam question for PMI's PMI-SP exam
Question #: 85
Topic #: 5
[All PMI-SP Questions]

You are the project manager for your organization. You and the project team are developing the project schedule for your current project. In addition to the enterprise environment factors and the organizational process assets, you will need seven other inputs to this process. Which one of the following is NOT an input to the Develop Schedule process?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: B, C

According to the scenario, you can use the following inputs in order to generate

performance reports:

WPI: Work performance information is the data gathered on the status of the project schedule

activities that are performed to

accomplish the project work. This data is collected as part of the Direct and Manage Project

Execution processes. WPI includes the

following:

Deliverables status

Schedule Progress

Costs incurred

WPM: Work performance measurements are created from the work performance information.

WPMs are an output of Control schedule,

Control cost, and Control scope processes, which are monitoring and controlling processes. WPMs

consist of planned versus actual

performance indicators with respect to scope, schedule, and cost. They are documented and

communicated to the stakeholders and are

used to make project activity metrics, such as the following:

Planned vs. Actual Technical performance and Scope performance

Planned vs. Actual Schedule performance

Planned vs. Actual Cost performance

Answer option A is incorrect. Variance analysis is an after-look at what caused a difference between

the baseline and the actual performance.

It is one of the tools and techniques used for report performance.

Answer option D is incorrect. Change requests are requests to expand or reduce the project scope,

modify policies, processes, plans, or

procedures, modify costs or budgets or revise schedules. These requests for a change can be direct

or indirect, externally or internally

initiated, and legally or contractually imposed or optional. A Project Manager needs to ensure that

only formally documented requested

changes are processed and only approved change requests are implemented.

I doubt that, seems like it should be included!

I’m leaning towards schedule data being the odd one out, but I might be mixing it up with another process.

I practiced a similar question where we had to identify inputs, and I feel like resource calendars were included in that one.

I think the project scope statement is definitely an input, but I can't recall if the schedule data is also one.

I remember we discussed the inputs for the Develop Schedule process, but I'm not entirely sure which one doesn't belong.

Okay, let's think this through. The project scope statement is definitely an input, so that can't be the answer. I'll focus on the other options.

Hmm, I'm a bit unsure about this one. I need to make sure I understand all the inputs to the Develop Schedule process.

This question seems straightforward. I'll review the inputs listed and eliminate the one that doesn't belong.

I've got this! The project scope statement is not an input to the Develop Schedule process. The other options are all valid inputs.

I feel like it could also be in the development stage, but that seems more about content creation rather than audience targeting.

Maybe the project manager just has a magic 8-ball they use to develop the schedule. That would explain a lot!

Ah, I've got it! D) Project scope statement must be the answer. You can't develop a schedule without knowing the scope of the project. Easy peasy!

Hmm, this is a tricky one. I'm tempted to say A) Resource calendars is not an input, but that feels too obvious. Let me think about this some more.

I agree, D) has to be the correct answer. The project scope statement is fundamental to creating the schedule.

D) Project scope statement seems like an obvious input to the Develop Schedule process. It defines the work that needs to be done, so how could it not be an input?
