I almost selected ARP load sharing, but then I remembered that's more for load balancing, not necessarily HA. VRRP and floating IP address make sense for this use case.

Yeah, VRRP and floating IP address are the way to go. HSRP is more of a Cisco thing, and ARP load sharing is a different approach.
