You guys are overthinking this. ROP is definitely Retained Original Process. It's when you keep the original process running while launching a new one, right? Simple as that.
Hold on, I thought ROP stood for Rules of Prevention. Isn't that a set of guidelines for, like, secure coding practices or something? This question is making my brain hurt.
Really? I was thinking it was Restriction on Process. You know, some kind of security control that limits what a process can do. Sounds like something they'd ask about in a certification exam.
Hmm, ROP? Return-Oriented Programming, of course! That's the technique where you chain together small chunks of existing code to execute your malicious payload. This is a tricky one, but I'm sure I've got it down.
