Which feature must be configured in an NSX environment to ensure proper operation of a VM-Series firewall in order to secure east-west traffic?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: A

Deployment of the NSX Distributed Firewall (DFW) must be configured in an NSX environment to ensure proper operation of a VM-Series firewall in order to secure east-west traffic. East-west traffic is the traffic that flows between applications or workloads within a network or a cloud environment. NSX environment is a private cloud environment that provides software-defined networking (SDN) and security for heterogeneous endpoints and workloads across multiple hypervisors, containers, bare metal servers, or clouds. NSX DFW is a feature that provides distributed stateful firewalling at the hypervisor level for every virtual machine (VM) in an NSX environment. Deployment of the NSX DFW must be configured in an NSX environment to ensure proper operation of a VM-Series firewall in order to secure east-west traffic by enabling features such as service insertion, policy redirection, service chaining, orchestration, monitoring, logging, and automation for VM-Series firewalls and Panorama on NSX environment. VMware Information Sources, User-ID agent on a Windows domain server, and device groups within VMware Services Manager do not need to be configured in an NSX environment to ensure proper operation of a VM-Series firewall in order to secure east-west traffic, as those are not required or relevant components for NSX integration. Definitely need the NSX DFW for that!

I don't think device groups are relevant here; I feel like the focus should be on the DFW for proper firewall operation.

User-ID agent sounds familiar, but I can't recall how it fits into the NSX setup for firewalls.

I remember practicing a question about NSX features, and I feel like the DFW was a key part of that.

I think the NSX DFW is definitely important for east-west traffic, but I'm not entirely sure if it's the only thing needed.

This is a tricky one. There are a few different networking concepts at play here, and I want to make sure I fully understand the requirements before selecting an answer. I may need to review my notes on NSX and firewall integration.

Okay, I've got a strategy here. The question is asking about a feature that needs to be configured to secure east-west traffic, so I'm thinking it's probably related to the distributed firewall or some kind of segmentation within the NSX environment. I'll carefully consider each option.

This looks like a pretty straightforward networking question. I think the key is to focus on the specific requirements for the VM-Series firewall in an NSX environment.

Hmm, I'm a bit unsure about this one. I know NSX is all about network virtualization, but I'm not super familiar with the specific features and configurations needed for a VM-Series firewall. I'll have to think this through carefully.

I've got this one! The GAO can reference the standards set by the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) in addition to the Yellow Book. That's option C.

I want to say it's 12 hops based on my notes, but I also might need to double-check that.

I don't think it's D, because device groups are more for managing multiple devices, not specifically for securing traffic.
