Cases of life-threatening pancreatitis have been reported in both pediatric and adult patients receiving valproic acid or its analogs. Patients should be warned that abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and/or anorexia can be symptoms of pancreatitis that require prompt medical evaluation.
