Concomitant use of warfarin and omeprazole is associated with increased INR and prothrombin time(PT). What enzyme dose the omeprazole inhibits that is metabolized by warfarin?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: C

Omeprazole is CYP2C19 inhibitor which can prolong the elimination of warfarin, particularly R-warfarin. R- warfarin is partially metabolized by CYP2C19. The combined use of omeprazole and warfarin has been associated with reports of increased INR and prothrombin time (PT).

Interesting, I didn't know omeprazole had that effect!

Wait, are we sure about that? I thought it was CYP2C9.

I’m a bit confused about the CYP enzymes. I thought warfarin was mostly metabolized by CYP2C9, but does omeprazole inhibit that too?

I think omeprazole mainly inhibits CYP2C19, which could affect warfarin metabolism. I saw a similar question in our practice exam.

I remember that omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor, but I'm not entirely sure which CYP enzyme it affects.

I recall that CYP2C19 is the one that omeprazole inhibits, but I hope I’m not mixing it up with CYP2C9.

I'm pretty confident the answer is C. The link doesn't use SSL/TLS encryption, so Marcella shouldn't proceed with the transaction.

I'm a little confused on this one. Is it really just list hygiene, or could it be something like engagement that's impacting deliverability? I'll have to review the material again to make sure I understand the connection to spam traps.
