Microsoft Exam AZ-140 Topic 2 Question 93 Discussion

Actual exam question for Microsoft's AZ-140 exam
Question #: 93
Topic #: 2
[All AZ-140 Questions]

You have a Azure Virtual Desktop host pool in the East US region.

You need to implement a disaster recovery solution that meets the following requirements:

* If users cannot connect to the Azure Virtual Desktop resources in the East US region, the users must be able to connect to the equivalent resources in the West US region.

* Users must connect to the Azure Virtual Desktop resources in either the East US or the West US region by selecting a single icon in the Remote Desktop client

* In the event of a disaster, failover between the Azure regions must be initiated manually by an administrator.

* Failover times must be minimized.

What should you do?

But wouldn't configuring a shared image gallery with replicas in both regions provide better failover capabilities?

Option D seems a bit overkill. Creating a separate host pool just for disaster recovery seems like a waste of resources. I'd go with C or E.

I think setting up a shared image gallery in both regions would be the best way to go for disaster recovery.

Option D does seem like a lot of extra work. I agree that C or E would be more efficient.

Haha, I bet the exam writers are trying to trick us. They're probably looking for the most over-engineered solution, like creating a whole new host pool in the West US region.

E) Enable Azure Site Recovery replication of the virtual machines to the West US region.

Option E seems to be the easiest and most straightforward solution. Azure Site Recovery should handle the failover process seamlessly.

That's true, but with option C, users can connect to resources in either region with a single icon in the Remote Desktop client.

But wouldn't enabling Azure Site Recovery replication to the West US region also be a good option for disaster recovery?

I disagree, enabling Azure Backup to a Recovery Services vault in the West US region seems like a better option.
