Microsoft AZ-140 Exam - Topic 2 Question 93 Discussion

Actual exam question for Microsoft's AZ-140 exam
Question #: 93
Topic #: 2
[All AZ-140 Questions]

You have a Azure Virtual Desktop host pool in the East US region.

You need to implement a disaster recovery solution that meets the following requirements:

* If users cannot connect to the Azure Virtual Desktop resources in the East US region, the users must be able to connect to the equivalent resources in the West US region.

* Users must connect to the Azure Virtual Desktop resources in either the East US or the West US region by selecting a single icon in the Remote Desktop client

* In the event of a disaster, failover between the Azure regions must be initiated manually by an administrator.

* Failover times must be minimized.

What should you do?

Not so sure about A, wouldn’t D be better for a separate host pool?

I agree, having session hosts in both regions is key!

Option A seems like the best choice for manual failover.

E is solid too, Site Recovery is great for DR scenarios.

Surprised that Azure Backup isn’t the go-to here, feels like a missed option!

I feel like the shared image gallery option might help with minimizing failover times, but I’m not completely confident about how it integrates with the host pools.

I recall that enabling Azure Site Recovery is often a good choice for disaster recovery, but I can't quite remember if it fits all the requirements here.

I think creating a new host pool in the West US could work, but I feel like we practiced a similar question where we used session hosts instead.

I remember we discussed the importance of having a manual failover process, but I'm not sure which option best supports that requirement.

The key here is minimizing failover time, so I'm leaning towards option E with Azure Site Recovery. That way we can have the West US resources ready to go and just need to initiate the failover manually when needed. Seems like the most efficient approach.

This seems pretty straightforward to me. I'd go with option D and create an additional host pool in the West US region. That way we can have a full backup and failover solution without needing to worry about things like backup vaults or image galleries.

Okay, I think I've got a plan. We'll create a new host pool in the West US region and add session hosts to it. Then we can use Azure AD to redirect users to the West US pool if the East US one is unavailable. That should meet the requirement about users connecting through a single icon.

Hmm, I'm a bit confused on the requirements here. Do we need to have the users connect to the West US resources through a single icon, or can they just connect directly to the West US host pool if the East US one is down?

This looks like a classic disaster recovery scenario for Azure Virtual Desktop. I think the key is to have a secondary host pool in the West US region that can take over if the primary East US region becomes unavailable.

But wouldn't configuring a shared image gallery with replicas in both regions provide better failover capabilities?

Option D seems a bit overkill. Creating a separate host pool just for disaster recovery seems like a waste of resources. I'd go with C or E.

Haha, I bet the exam writers are trying to trick us. They're probably looking for the most over-engineered solution, like creating a whole new host pool in the West US region.
