The difference between i and a? One's for inserting, the other's for appending. Simple as that! Unless you're a vi wizard, then it's all black magic as far as I'm concerned.

Wait, vi has modes? I just mash the keyboard and hope something useful happens. Maybe I should have paid more attention during that Linux class.

Hmm, I thought i was for interrupting the current operation and a was for aborting the whole thing. Guess I need to brush up on my vi basics.

I'm pretty sure the difference is that i switches modes, while a keeps the same mode. But I could be wrong, vi commands can be a bit tricky to remember sometimes.

I think you're right, i requires switching modes while a doesn't.

The correct answer is B) i (insert) inserts text before the current cursor position whereas a (append) inserts text after the cursor. This makes the most sense in the context of the vi editor commands.

Yeah, i inserts before the cursor and a inserts after. It's important to remember that difference.

I think the difference is that i requires explicit mode switching.
