Link encryption? I'm not familiar with that one. Guess I'll have to rule that out. AES is a standard encryption algorithm, but I don't think that's what they're looking for in this question. Better think this through carefully.

Access control list is the way to go. Routers and firewalls use ACLs to control traffic flow and enforce security policies. This is a classic networking concept.
