Actual exam question for Juniper's JN0-231 exam
Question #: 33
Topic #: 4
[All JN0-231 Questions]

Which security policy type will be evaluated first?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: D

By default, TCP has a 30-minute idle timeout, and UDP has a 60-second idle timeout. Additionally, known IP protocols have a 30-minute timeout, whereas unknown ones have a 60-second timeout. Setting the inactivity timeout is very useful, particularly if you are concerned about applications either timing out or remaining idle for too long and filling up the session table. According to the Juniper SRX Series Services Guide, this can be configured using the 'timeout inactive' statement for the security policy.

Wait, what's the difference between a zone policy and a global policy? Sounds like a whole lot of IT mumbo-jumbo to me. I'm just gonna wing it and pick the one that sounds the least boring.

Dynamic application set? Is that like a new dance move or something? I'm just going to close my eyes and point. Eeny, meeny, miny, moe!

Ooh, this is a tricky one. I'm gonna have to go with D, just because it sounds the most complicated. Gotta keep them on their toes, right?

Hold up, what's this dynamic application set business? Sounds like some fancy tech jargon to me. I'm just gonna guess C and hope for the best!

User 1: Dynamic application set is just a group of applications that can be updated automatically. It helps with security.

I'm gonna go with the global policy with no dynamic application set. Feels like that would be the first thing the system checks, you know?

Hmm, I'm thinking it's gotta be the zone policy with no dynamic application set. That sounds like the most basic and straightforward option, right?

Josphine: That could be a possibility as well, but I still think the zone policy is more likely to be evaluated first.

But the zone policy is more specific, so it should take precedence.
