Actual exam question for Juniper's JN0-105 exam
Question #: 28
Topic #: 2
[All JN0-105 Questions]

You have completed the initial configuration of your new Junos device. You want to be able to load this configuration at a later time.

Which action enables you to perform this task?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: A, B

Junos OS supports multiple methods for automatically archiving configurations upon commit. Two of the supported methods are SCP (Secure Copy Protocol) and RCP (Remote Copy Protocol). These methods can be configured to save the configuration files to a remote server automatically whenever a commit is made.

'You can configure Junos OS to automatically archive the configuration using protocols such as SCP and RCP upon commit.'

I thought zeroize would wipe everything, not save it!

Wait, can you really load a config with that command?

You need to save the config first to load it later.

I definitely remember that "request system reboot" is just for rebooting the device, not for loading configurations.

I’m a bit confused. I thought "load factory-default" was for resetting, not for loading a saved config.

I practiced a similar question where we had to save a config, and I feel like "request system configuration rescue save" was the answer.

I think I remember something about saving configurations, but I'm not sure if "rescue save" is the right command for loading later.

I'm a little confused by this question. Wouldn't the factory-default or zeroize commands actually reset the device, rather than saving the configuration? I'm not sure if those are the right options here. I'll have to think about this one some more.

Okay, I've got it! The key is that we want to be able to load the configuration at a later time. That means we need to save it somehow, and the request system configuration rescue save command is the way to do that. D is the right answer.

Hmm, I'm not totally sure about this one. I know we need to be able to load the configuration later, but I'm not sure if that's the same as saving a rescue configuration. Let me think this through a bit more.

This seems pretty straightforward. I think the answer is D - entering the request system configuration rescue save command to save the current configuration as a rescue configuration.

Well, if you really want to start fresh, Option A would do the trick. But for this scenario, D is clearly the best choice to save and restore the configuration later.

Haha, Option C would be a pretty drastic way to save the configuration! Might as well just start from scratch. D is the clear winner here.

I was thinking Option B at first, but that would just reboot the device, not save the configuration. D is definitely the way to go.

Option D seems like the right choice here. Saving the configuration as a rescue file allows me to load it back later, which is exactly what the question is asking for.
