ISTQB ATM Exam - Topic 2 Question 75 Discussion

Actual exam question for ISTQB's ATM exam
Question #: 75
Topic #: 2
[All ATM Questions]

Assume you are working on a CAS (Conditional Access System) for Pay-TV that allows the access, selection and transfer of services and media to authorized users. Authorized users can choose their services through different channels: Web Customer Portal, IVR (Interactive Voice Response), Call Centre and SMS. The system uses a Smart Card to receive and decrypt the broadcasted encrypted control words which allow decrypting pay-per-view TV. Every authorized user must have a Smart Card and a Set-Top Box to view the contents.

The following is an excerpt from the product risk analysis document:

Both likelihood and impact have been rated on the following scale: (1 -- Very low, 2 -- Low, 3 --Medium, 4 -- High, 5 -- Very High).

The required test environment and code have been delivered. All test cases for each identified product risk item have been written and are ready to be executed. The Database used to contain the Smart Cards is empty and so only new Smart Cards can be used during test execution.

A Smart Card can only be activated if it has been previously pre-activated. This means the postconditions for the execution of the test cases to test the pre-activation of the Smart Card are the pre-conditions for activation of the Smart Card.

Which of the following statements represents the most effective contribution of the stakeholders to the completion of the failure mode analysis table?

C seems too limited, we need more perspectives for detection.

Wait, why is the pilot involved in this? Seems odd.

I feel like the customer representative should definitely be involved in assessing detection, but I'm torn between options A and B for the priority assessment.

I practiced a similar question where we had to assign roles based on expertise, but I can't recall if detection or priority was more critical in this context.

I think option A makes sense because the software engineer and architect would know the system well enough to assess priority effectively.

I remember we discussed the roles of different stakeholders in failure mode analysis, but I'm not sure if the pilot should really assess priority.

I feel pretty confident about this one. The key is matching the right stakeholders to the right assessment criteria based on their qualifications.

This is a tricky one, lots of moving parts. I'm going to make sure I understand the risk analysis process and how the different stakeholders' roles fit in.

Okay, I think I've got a good handle on the scenario. I'll focus on identifying the right stakeholders to assess the priority and detection based on their expertise.

Hmm, I'm a bit confused by all the technical jargon here. I'll need to make sure I understand the key concepts before trying to answer.

The question seems straightforward, but the answer options are a bit tricky. I'm leaning towards option B, as it makes sense for the technical experts to assess the priority, while the customer and pilot can provide valuable insights on detection.

I'm not sure, I think option A could also work. Having the pilot and customer representative assess detection might bring unique insights.

I agree, it's important to have a balance of perspectives when assessing risks. Option B seems to cover that well.

I think option B is the best choice. The technical experts should handle priority, while the customer and pilot can focus on detection.
