Actual exam question for ISC2's ISSMP exam
Question #: 25
Topic #: 5
[All ISSMP Questions]

You are the Network Administrator for a college. You watch a large number of people (some not even students) going in and out of areas with campus computers (libraries, computer labs, etc.). You have had a problem with laptops being stolen. What is the most cost effective method to prevent this?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: B

It is very inexpensive to put physical locks on laptops that connect them to tables preventing them from being easily stolen.

Answer options A, D, and C are incorrect. All of these methods would help ameliorate the situation, but would not be cost effective. All are more expensive than the simpler idea of using laptop locks.

Smart card access sounds good for controlling who enters, but I wonder if it really prevents theft effectively.

I'm not sure if appointing a security guard is the best option. It seems like it could be costly and not very efficient.

I remember discussing the effectiveness of video surveillance in class, but it might be too expensive for a college budget.

I think using laptop locks could be a practical solution. We practiced a similar question about securing equipment in labs.

Wait, I'm a bit confused. Does ZTNA really not support SSH connections? I'll need to double-check that before answering.

I think we need to disable proxy ARP when the default gateway is on an external device, but I'm not 100% sure.
