I'm drawing a blank on the specific advantages of SNMPv3. I know there were some security improvements, but I can't recall the details. Guess I need to review my SNMP notes again.
Encryption, that's the key difference! SNMPv3 provides data encryption, which protects the SNMP traffic from snooping. Much more secure than the old community string approach.
Hmm, I'm a bit unsure on this one. I know SNMPv3 has some new security features, but I can't remember the specifics. I'll have to think this through carefully.
I'm pretty sure this has to do with security features. SNMPv3 added encryption, which is a big advantage over the plain text community strings in SNMPv2c.
