Which of the following services resolves host name to IP Address?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: C

The DNS service resolves host name to IP Address.

A DNS server is a computer that runs the Domain Name System (DNS) service. It contains host name-to-IP address mappings, IP address-to-

host name mappings, information about the domain tree structure, etc. A DNS server is also used to resolve DNS client queries.

Answer option B is incorrect. Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is a TCP/IP standard used to dynamically assign IP addresses to

computers, so that they can communicate with other network services. It reduces the complexity of managing network client IP address

configuration. A DHCP server configures DHCP-enabled client computers on the network. It runs on servers only. It also provides integration

with the Active Directory directory service.

Answer option D is incorrect. Windows Internet Name Service (WINS) is a name resolution service that registers and resolves NetBIOS names

to IP addresses used on the network. WINS is a Microsoft standard and is used only on networks comprising Windows hosts.

Answer option A is incorrect. The Computer Browser service is used by Windows-based computers on the network. Computers designated as

browsers maintain an up-to-date list of computers and provide the list to applications when requested. When a user attempts to connect to a

resource in the network, the Browser service is contacted to provide a list of available resources.

Computer Browser doesn't do that, just DNS and WINS.

I thought DHCP handled that too, but maybe I'm wrong?

Wait, isn't WINS also related to name resolution?

DNS is the one that resolves host names to IP addresses.

I feel like WINS might have something to do with name resolution too, but I can't recall exactly how it fits in.

I remember practicing a question like this, and I think DHCP is more about assigning IP addresses, not resolving them.

I think DNS is the one that resolves host names to IP addresses, but I'm not 100% sure.

I'm pretty sure it's DNS, but I also remember that Computer Browser has something to do with network resources, not name resolution.

Hmm, I'm not entirely sure about this one. I know we can modify the underlying table, but I'm not confident that's the right approach here. Let me think through the options carefully.

Hmm, this seems like a tricky one. I'll need to think through the requirements carefully to make sure I don't miss anything.

Whoa, this is a lot to cover in 23 minutes. I better start planning out my approach right away. I'll need to prioritize the most important elements for each part and try to hit the main points efficiently.
