Replacing the data cable won't fix bad sectors, just saying.

Wait, bad sectors? Isn't that a sign the drive is failing?

I’m pretty sure formatting the drive isn’t a good idea if there are bad sectors. SCANDISK sounds like the best option here.

I feel like replacing the data cable might help, but it seems more like a last resort than the first step.

I think the first step should be to run SCANDISK, but I'm not entirely sure if I should use the Thorough option or just the standard one.

Ah, I've seen this kind of issue before. The first thing I'd do is run SCANDISK with the Thorough option to see if it can identify and fix any bad sectors on the hard drive.

I'm a little confused on this one. I'm not sure if I should try replacing the data cable or just go straight to running SCANDISK. Decisions, decisions!

I'm pretty confident that the right answer here is to run SCANDISK. That's the best way to diagnose and potentially repair any issues with the hard drive.

Ooh, look at Mr. Fancypants over here, suggesting we replace the hard drive. Why don't we just hire a butler while we're at it? D is the obvious choice.

Replace the data cable? What is this, the IT version of 'have you tried turning it off and on again'? D all the way, baby!

I would also consider replacing the data cable of the hard disk drive, as a faulty cable could also cause issues.
