Sprinkler heads used in computer rooms activate at what temperature?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: A

Sprinkler heads used in computer rooms activate at 57 C (135 F), which is the standard temperature rating for ordinary sprinklers. This is the temperature at which the heat-sensitive element of the sprinkler head, such as a glass bulb or a fusible link, breaks or melts, allowing water to flow from the sprinkler. Sprinkler heads are designed to activate only when exposed to a fire, not to ambient temperature fluctuations. Therefore, sprinkler heads should be installed at a sufficient distance from the heat sources, such as servers, racks, or ducts, to avoid accidental activation. Sprinkler heads should also be selected and installed in accordance with the relevant standards and codes, such as NFPA 13 and NFPA 75.

Nope, definitely 57 C. Anything lower wouldn't be effective.

I thought it was lower, like 27 C (81 F).

It's usually 57 C (135 F) for those sprinkler heads.

I’m really unsure about this one. I thought it was 27 C, but that seems too low for a computer room.

I remember studying that they activate at a higher temperature, maybe 70 C? That seems too high though.

I think sprinkler heads in computer rooms usually activate around 57 C, but I’m not completely sure.

I feel pretty confident that the answer is A. Computer rooms need to maintain a higher temperature threshold to prevent the sprinklers from going off accidentally and potentially damaging the equipment. 57 C (135 F) seems like the right activation point for that environment.

I'm a bit confused on this one. Is it asking about the temperature that would trigger the sprinklers in a computer room specifically? Or just the general activation temperature for sprinklers? I want to make sure I understand the question correctly before answering.

Hmm, I'm not totally sure about this one. I know computer rooms need to be kept cool, but I can't remember the exact temperature for the sprinklers. I'll have to think this through carefully.

I'm pretty sure the answer is A - 57 C (135 F). Computer rooms need to have a higher activation temperature to prevent accidental sprinkler activation.

Okay, let me think this through step-by-step. Computer rooms need to be kept at a specific temperature to prevent overheating of the equipment. The sprinklers would need to activate at a higher temperature than the normal room temperature to avoid false alarms. I'm going to go with option A.

Haha, can you imagine the chaos if the sprinklers went off at 27 C (81 F)? The IT guys would be swimming in their desks. Good one, though!

B? 27 C (81 F)? Really? That's way too low. Unless we're talking about a computer room in the Antarctic, I don't think that's the right answer.

Hmm, I'm gonna go with D. It just makes sense that the sprinklers would only activate on direct contact with a flame. I mean, who wants a sudden downpour in the middle of a coding session?

My money's on A. 57 C (135 F) sounds about right for a sensitive environment like a computer room. Wouldn't want to risk any water damage, am I right?
