Exin ASM Exam - Topic 2 Question 69 Discussion

Actual exam question for Exin's ASM exam
Question #: 69
Topic #: 2
[All ASM Questions]

A head office of a chain of department stores has commissioned updates to a software package to improve stock management tor its warehouse and customer services.

The Scrum team is implementing notifications on the time of day an out-of-stock item arrives at a nominated store. The team does not have access to the inventory data which is managed by the information management team. This forms a major roadblock Since this feature has high external value it is important that the roadblock is removed.

What is the best way for the Scrum Master to help the team in this situation?

C is a bad idea, they need help to get past this roadblock!

Wait, can the Scrum Master really negotiate access? Seems tricky.

I agree, negotiating access makes the most sense.

Sounds like D is the best option here. Access to data is crucial!

I vaguely remember that coaching the information management team could be beneficial, but I wonder if that would actually resolve the access issue quickly enough.

I'm a bit uncertain about whether the Scrum Master should intervene directly or let the team handle it. I feel like they should be involved, but I can't recall the exact approach we practiced.

I think we had a practice question about communication barriers, and I feel like option D makes sense since it directly addresses the issue with the information management team.

I remember we discussed the importance of removing roadblocks in our Scrum training, but I'm not sure if negotiating for access is the best first step.

This is a classic Scrum challenge - dealing with dependencies and roadblocks. I'd start by trying to coach the information management team and see if I can get them to collaborate more closely with the Scrum team.

Okay, I think the best approach here is to negotiate with the information management team. We need to find a way to get access to that data, even if it means making some compromises.

Hmm, I'm a bit unsure about this one. The information management team seems to be a key blocker, so I'd want to focus on finding a way to get them involved and cooperating.

This seems like a tricky situation. I'd want to carefully consider the options and think through the pros and cons of each approach.

I'm not sure about this one. The password has a mix of upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters, so a rainbow table or dictionary attack might not work. I'll have to think this through carefully.

Option C is the best choice here. The Scrum team are all trained professionals, so they should be able to figure this out without the Scrum Master micromanaging everything.

I'm picturing the Scrum Master doing some kind of interpretive dance to negotiate with the information management team. That's the only way I'd accept 'D' as the correct answer.

D: Or the Product Owner could move the backlog item to the product backlog.

Letting the team solve this problem on their own is a nice idea, but they can't do that without the necessary data. The Scrum Master needs to step in and facilitate a conversation with the information management team.

Asking the Product Owner to move the backlog item to the product backlog seems like a cop-out. The Scrum Master should be coaching the team to find a solution, not just pushing the problem aside.

But wouldn't it be better for the Product Owner to move the backlog item to the product backlog instead?

I think the best way is to negotiate with the information management team for access to the data. That's the only way the Scrum team can really move forward on this high-value feature.
