An ArcGis user is making a small-scale map using road data that was collected at a large scale. What is the appropriate tool for removing some of the road detail?
I'm leaning towards Smooth Line. It's great for generalizing the shape of roads without losing too much detail. Plus, it's just fun to say 'Smooth Line' out loud.
Collapse Dual Lines to Centerline sounds like it could work, but I'm not sure if that's the right tool for this scenario. Wouldn't that just merge the dual lines into a single centerline?
Hmm, I think Simplify Line would be the best option here. It's designed to reduce the complexity of line features without changing the overall shape too much.
