CIPS L4M6 Exam - Topic 9 Question 10 Discussion

Actual exam question for CIPS's L4M6 exam
Question #: 10
Topic #: 9
[All L4M6 Questions]

Debbie is a procurement manager at a small manufacturer company. She had a contract in place with a company that provides uniforms, but finds that she doesn't need to order much from them as the staff re-wear the same clothes to work. The contract has now expired. Should Debbie do a Competitive Tender to source a new contract?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: C

The correct answer is 'no-the contract is not of significant value'. CIPS state that competitive tenders should only be used when 'the item or service is of significant value' p.73. Debbie could continue using the same supplier, but she should organise a contract extension or a new contract if she does.

Surprised she even had a contract for uniforms! Who needs that many?

Not worth it if the value is low, just stick with the current supplier.

But does she really need new uniforms? Seems unnecessary.

Contracts expire, so a new tender is a must!

I recall that we learned about the importance of evaluating supplier performance before deciding to tender again. If the current supplier is still good, maybe she should just keep them?

I'm a bit unsure, but I feel like if the uniforms aren't needed much, it might not be worth the effort of a competitive tender.

I think we practiced a similar question where the value of the contract influenced the decision. If it's low value, maybe she doesn't need to go through a full tender process?

I remember discussing how an expired contract doesn't automatically mean a new tender is required, especially if the previous supplier was satisfactory.

Hmm, this looks like a tricky one. I'll need to carefully examine the code and think through the different options.

Okay, let's see. Customer classification and central data seem like they could be relevant, but I'm not confident about the other options.

I'm not entirely sure about this one. I know overfitting is when the model performs well on the training data but poorly on the validation/test data, but I'm not sure which of these options best captures that. I'll need to review my notes on this topic before answering.

The key here is understanding the required settings for integrating a Cisco Meeting Server with TMS. The options mention things like DNS, domain, numeric IDs, and conference ID ranges, so I'll focus on those.
