Mandy is looking to source windows and doors for a new build apartment block. She has done some initial research and has discovered that there are many suppliers in the marketplace that can supply the items she needs. As it is a high-value project she is thinking of running a formal tender. What should be Mandy's first step?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: B

The correct answer is 'run a restricted competition -- send out a PQQ'. This Question: tests both

your understanding of when to run open and restricted competitions (which is explained on p.75) and your understanding of tender documents. Mandy should run a restricted competition- there are a lot of options in the marketplace and this will allow her to pre-qualify those who best suit her requirements. Running an open competition when there are lots of suppliers would be too time-consuming- you need a way of making a short-list. When you run a restricted competition, the first stage is sending out a PQQ- pre-qualification questionnaire; this document is sent to suppliers asking for necessary information to support their qualification as an approved supplier.

PQQ makes sense, but I wonder if Mandy has enough time for that.

A RFI? Really? Seems like a roundabout way to start.

Wait, isn't a RFQ more for pricing? Not sure that's the best choice.

I think an ITT is better for high-value projects. More competition!

I thought an ITT was the way to go for formal tenders, but maybe she needs to narrow down her options first with a PQQ?

I feel like an RFQ might be more appropriate since she already knows what she needs, but I could be mixing up the terms.

I remember practicing a similar question where we discussed the importance of assessing supplier capabilities first. A PQQ seems right for that.

I think Mandy should start with a PQQ to pre-qualify suppliers, but I'm not entirely sure if that's the best first step.

Hmm, this is a tricky one. I think I'll need to carefully review the options and think through the data management steps to determine the essential one for accelerating raw data with a Data Model and using it in ES.

I remember that transcoding was necessary when different codecs are in use, but I can't recall which router should handle it.

This seems like a straightforward question about professional ethics. I'll carefully review the IIA Code of Ethics and Standards to determine the appropriate response.

Okay, let me think this through. The plan is supposed to help the organization recover from an incident, so I need to identify the option that doesn't fit with that goal.
