The model form contract invented by Institute of Civil Engineers is...?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: D

When parties do not negotiate face-to-face, a key Question: becomes when

things like acceptances, rejections and revocations take effect. The general rule is that acceptances are effective on dispatch (when they are mailed). Everything else becomes effective when the offeror actually receives them. This idea is codified by the ''mailbox rule'' which states that acceptance is effective on dispatch, even before the offeror has received it. (The one minor exception to this rule involves option contracts for which acceptances are not effective until they are received by the offeror.)

NEC has been around for ages, can't argue with that!

Wait, are we sure it's not IMechE/IET? That sounds familiar.

I’m leaning towards IMechE/IET, but I can't recall if they actually developed a model form contract.

JCT sounds familiar, but I feel like it’s more associated with the UK construction industry rather than the ICE.

I remember studying FIDIC contracts, but I don't think that's the one we're looking for here.

I think the NEC might be the right answer, but I’m not completely sure if it was specifically created by the Institute of Civil Engineers.

Ah, I remember learning about this in my construction law class. The answer is A, NEC. The New Engineering Contract is the model form developed by the Institute of Civil Engineers.

The Institute of Civil Engineers? That's a tough one. I'm going to guess B, IMechE/IET, since they're also major engineering institutions, but I'm not totally confident in that.

Hmm, I'm not entirely sure about this one. I know the Institute of Civil Engineers is involved in construction, but I can't recall the specific model form they use. I'll have to think this through carefully.

I'm pretty sure the answer is C. FIDIC is a well-known model form contract used in the construction industry.

I've got this! A rolling upgrade and a database migration are the two scenarios that require the encryption key. Easy peasy.

I think building a custom cloud builder image is the way to go here. That way, we can ensure the build tool is available and we don't have to worry about downloading it during the build process.

FIDIC? More like FIDDLY-diddly-doo, am I right? Engineers and their love for acronyms...

IMechE/IET? Nah, that's for mechanical and electrical engineering, not civil. Nice try, though!
