What is the contribution of marketing function to the development of specification?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: C

Marketing plays a critical role in sales. The marketing department introduces products to the con-sumer, and creates strategic messaging that elevates appeal and ultimately drives sales. The feed-back and response from consumers is measured by the marketing team on a variety of levels. Ad-vertising is one means of seeing what performs and what does not perform. Marketers will note trends and demand in their specific markets. This plays into new product development, because the marketing team can work with product developers to create products based on that demand.

In development of specification, the role of marketing is largely the same. They provide the market insight so that right specification is developed and it matches the demands from customers.

I feel like option C makes the most sense since marketing should know about trends, but I wonder if D could also be relevant in some cases.

I'm a bit confused about the options. I thought marketing also had a say in technical aspects, but I can't recall if that's really their main focus.

Okay, I've got this. The key is that marketing provides insights on customer preferences and market demands, which then feed into the product specification. Option C looks like the best answer here.

Hmm, I'm a bit confused by this question. I'm not sure how marketing would ensure that conformance specification is never used or that procurement doesn't get involved. I'll need to re-read the options carefully.

This seems like a straightforward question about the role of marketing in developing product specifications. I'll need to think about how marketing provides input on customer needs and market trends to inform the specification.

I'm a bit unsure about this one. The options seem a bit odd - I'm not sure I fully understand the relationship between marketing and specification development. I'll need to think it through more carefully.

I'm surprised Option A is even an option. Marketing's job is to ensure the product meets customer needs, not sabotage the specification process. C is the way to go.

Marketing ensuring that procurement doesn't get involved? That's like a chef asking the waiter to stay out of the kitchen - it just doesn't make sense! Option C is the clear winner here.
