BCS Exam MBP18 Topic 4 Question 48 Discussion

Actual exam question for BCS's MBP18 exam
Question #: 48
Topic #: 4
[All MBP18 Questions]

Some airlines have introduced new routes from an airport and the number of passengers has risen by 20% in the last 3 weeks. This number is expected to further increase as competition is forcing fares down

Airport management is anticipating issues within the terminal as the number of passengers increases. There have been several meetings and it has been decided that the current passenger approach is still suitable, although it will take on more staff to work in both departures (particularly at check out and security) and in arrivals (particularly in baggage handling)

What performance issue is this MOST likely to address?

I'd love to see the faces of the airport managers when they realize they've hired a bunch of sloths to work the baggage claim. Talk about a performance issue!

Hand-offs between the different areas could be tricky. The airport really needs to make sure the new staff are well-trained and communication is smooth, or it's going to be a nightmare.

Haha, I bet the baggage handlers are going to be running around like headless chickens with all the extra luggage coming in. Redundancy might be a good idea to handle that chaos!

I'm not sure about that. Duplication of work could also be a problem if they're not coordinating the additional staff properly. That could lead to inefficiencies.

I think duplication of work could also be a potential issue with the increase in staff at departures and arrivals.

Bottlenecks seem like the most obvious issue here. With more passengers, the check-out and security areas are likely to get congested, so adding more staff is a logical solution.

I agree with Dierdre, the increase in passengers could lead to bottlenecks at check out and security.

I think the performance issue being addressed here is bottlenecks.
