True, the lifecycle hook could work, but it feels a bit hacky to me. I'd rather have the tags applied upfront, you know? Plus, the launch template option is more proactive and less reactive.

But what about the lifecycle hook option? Wouldn't that also work by attaching the tags just before the instances are terminated? That seems like a pretty efficient solution too.
