Amazon CLF-C02 Exam - Topic 3 Question 35 Discussion

Actual exam question for Amazon's CLF-C02 exam
Question #: 35
Topic #: 3
[All CLF-C02 Questions]

A company purchased Amazon EC2 Standard Reserved Instances (Rls) for a workload in the AWS Cloud. The company needs to move part of the workload to an instance family that does not match the instance family of these Standard RIs.

How can the company take advantage of the Standard RIs that it no longer needs?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: B

The Amazon EC2 Reserved Instance Marketplace allows customers to sell unused Standard Reserved Instances to other AWS users. This enables companies to recoup some of the costs if they no longer need certain RIs. Standard RIs cannot be converted to Savings Plans, and AWS Support does not facilitate the resale of RIs directly.

I don't think contacting AWS Support is the right move here. Selling them seems more straightforward, but I can't remember the details.

I think I saw a practice question about selling RIs, but I can't recall if it was specifically about the Marketplace or something else.

I'm not entirely sure, but I feel like converting to Savings Plans could be a good option too. Maybe that's option D?

I'm a bit confused on the differences between the options here. Is there a way to convert the Standard RIs to something else, like Savings Plans, that might be more flexible? I'll need to double-check the details on each choice.

Ah, I remember learning about this in class. I believe the correct answer is to sell the Standard RIs on the Amazon EC2 Reserved Instance Marketplace. That way, the company can recoup some of the upfront cost.

Okay, let me think this through. The company needs to move part of the workload to a different instance family, so they can't use the existing Standard RIs. Selling them seems like the best option, but I'm not sure if that's through the Marketplace or as a third-party seller.

I'm a bit confused. Can I sell the Standard RIs on eBay instead? Asking for a friend who's looking to make a quick buck. (Just kidding, Option B is the way to go!)

Converting the Standard RIs to Savings Plans (Option D) seems like a good idea, but I'm not sure if that's the best way to take advantage of them. Sticking with Option B seems safer.

I agree with Angella. Option B is the most logical choice here. Why bother with the AWS Support team when you can just sell the RIs yourself?
