Prometheus seems more like a monitoring tool, so I doubt it's the right answer. I think it’s either Envoy or Istio.

I feel like NSX Load Balancer could be a contender, but I lean towards Envoy since it’s often mentioned with Contour.

I remember something about Istio being related to service meshes, but I can't recall if it connects directly to Contour.

Ah, I remember now - Contour uses Envoy as the data plane component. It's an Ingress controller that integrates with Envoy to handle traffic routing and load balancing.

Okay, I think the answer is Envoy. Contour is built on top of Envoy, which provides the data plane functionality. I'm confident in this one.

Hmm, I'm a bit unsure about this one. I know Contour is an Ingress controller, but I can't recall which data plane project it uses. I'll have to think this through carefully.

The answer has to be Envoy. Anything else would be like trying to run a race without legs. Contour and Envoy are a match made in infrastructure heaven.

Envoy, baby! That's the heart of Contour. It wouldn't be Contour without its trusty Envoy sidekick.
