Trend Deep-Security-Professional Exam - Topic 9 Question 61 Discussion

Actual exam question for Trend's Deep-Security-Professional exam
Question #: 61
Topic #: 9
[All Deep-Security-Professional Questions]

An administrator attempts to activate the Deep Security Agent installed on a server by typing the following command in the Command Prompt on the Deep Security Agent computer:

dsa_control -a dsm://server1.acme.com:4120

The Agent does not activate as expected. What is a valid reason for this issue?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: D

dsa_control -a dsm://<host or IP>:/

For the command-line Agent activation option to work, Deep Security Manager must be set to ac-cept Agent-Initiated Activations (AIA) commands. This method is particularly useful when using scripts or in Cloud environments like Amazon Web Services where Deep Security Manager can not typically connect to Deep Security Agents to activate them, but the Agents can connect to Deep Security Manager.

Definitely not B, you can activate via Command Prompt.

C seems unlikely, I've done it from the Agent before.

Wait, can you really activate it from the Command Prompt? I thought it had to be through the web console!

I think it's option A, wrong port number.

I vaguely remember that 'Allow Agent-Initiated Activation' needs to be enabled, but I’m not completely confident about that being the issue here.

I feel like the command can be run from any machine, but I might be mixing it up with another command from my notes.

I think I practiced a question similar to this where the activation had to be done through the web console, but I can't recall if that applies here.

I remember something about the correct port number being crucial for activation, but I’m not sure if it’s 4118 or something else.

I'm a little confused by this one. The command looks right, but the agent still isn't activating. I might try option D and see if the 'Allow Agent-Initiated Activation' setting is the issue.

Okay, so the key here seems to be that the agent can't be activated through the command prompt. I'd go with option B and make a note to remember that agents need to be activated through the Deep Security Manager or a deployment script.

Hmm, I'm not sure about this one. The question mentions the agent not activating as expected, so I might want to look into the different ways agents can be activated and see if there's something I'm missing there.

This one seems pretty straightforward. I'd start by double-checking the port number in the command to make sure it matches the correct port for the Deep Security Agent.

Dude, this is like trying to turn on the TV without the remote. You gotta enable that 'Allow Agent-Initiated Activation' thing, or it's game over!

The command can only be executed on the Deep Security Manager computer? Well, that's just plain silly. I'm the admin, I should be able to do it from anywhere!

Activating the agent through the web console? What is this, the Stone Age? I want my command prompt, thank you very much!

The incorrect port was used. The correct command would be: dsa_control -a dsm://server1.acme.com:4118

B) Deep Security Agents can not be activated through the Command Prompt. They must be activated through the Deep Security Manager Web console or through a deployment script.
