I'm leaning towards Inline mode as well. That seems like the most straightforward way to ensure the servers can only access the client through the ADC. The other modes don't seem to provide that level of control and isolation.

I think the key here is to look at the other Edge location and see if it's advertising a secure route for the application's subnet. That could be causing the traffic to get routed through the overlay instead of the underlay as expected.
