Actual exam question for Nutanix's NCS-Core exam
Question #: 76
Topic #: 2
[All NCS-Core Questions]

A consultant is planning to use a flat switch for installation.

What is the network requirement for Foundation VM, CVM, Hypervisor, and IPMI

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: A, D

The scope of services for the deployment of a new Nutanix cluster would apply to both Foundation and Prism Central. Foundation is the initial software used for deploying Nutanix nodes and creating clusters, essential for setting up the environment. Prism Central is used for managing multiple clusters and is integral to the operational scope of the service, providing centralized management capabilities. I don't know about you, but I'm just hoping the consultant remembers to plug in the flat switch. Otherwise, this whole network setup is going to be a flat-out disaster!

Option C is the way to go! Separating the Hypervisor and IPMI from the Foundation VM and CVM adds an extra layer of security.

Yeah, it's always good to have that extra layer of security when setting up a network.

I agree, having the Foundation VM and CVM on the same subnet just makes things easier to manage.

Option C is definitely the best choice. Separating them makes sense for security.

Hmm, this is a tricky one. I'm leaning towards Option B, as keeping the CVM, Hypervisor, and IPMI on the same subnet could simplify the network configuration.

That's a good point. Option B does mention keeping IPMI on a different subnet, so maybe that is the best choice.

But what about IPMI? Shouldn't it be on a different subnet for security reasons?

I think Option A might be better, so that Foundation VM, CVM, and Hypervisor are all on the same subnet.

I would go with Option D. Having the Foundation VM, CVM, and IPMI on the same subnet makes it easier to manage and monitor the entire system.

Option A seems the most logical to me. It makes sense to have the Foundation VM, CVM, and Hypervisor on the same subnet for better communication and management.

That's a good point. Option A does mention that IPMI can be on a different subnet, so it should still work fine.

But wouldn't it make more sense for Foundation VM, CVM, and IPMI to be on the same subnet, with Hypervisor on a different subnet?

I disagree, I believe CVM, Hypervisor, and IPMI must be on the same subnet. Foundation VM can be on a different subnet.

I think the network requirement is that Foundation VM, CVM, and Hypervisor must be on the same subnet. IPMI can be on a different subnet.
