Nutanix Exam NCS-Core Topic 1 Question 66 Discussion

Actual exam question for Nutanix's NCS-Core exam
Question #: 66
Topic #: 1
[All NCS-Core Questions]

What is the minimum number of nodes required for a Nutanix Cluster to support Replication Factor 3 (RF3) on a storage container?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: C

After deploying a Nutanix cluster with AOS and ESXi managed by a vCenter server, the consultant should ensure that both CVM eth0 and eth2 interfaces are connected to the assigned portgroups on the standard or distributed switch. This setup allows for network segmentation and proper traffic isolation, which is crucial for maintaining network security and efficiency in a virtualized environment. Wait, wait, wait. Are we talking about Nutanix or some secret Jedi council? 3 nodes for RF3? It's like they're trying to keep the dark side from finding out our cluster size secrets.

Okay, let me get this straight. With RF3, you need 6 nodes to run a Nutanix cluster? That's like a whole data center in a box! I'll just stick to my trusty old server and hope it never breaks down.

Hold up, what is this, a math quiz? I thought we were learning about hyperconverged infrastructure, not calculus. But hey, if the answer is 5, I'll take it!

Ah, the age-old question of Nutanix cluster sizing. I say go with 4 nodes, just to be on the safe side. You can never have too much redundancy, right?

I agree, better to have extra redundancy.

I think 4 nodes should be enough for RF3.

I'm not sure, but I think it's A) 3 as well. It makes sense to have at least 3 nodes for replication.

I agree with Lashawn, because for RF3 we need 3 nodes to support replication.

With Replication Factor 3, the minimum number of nodes required is 3. Anything less and you won't have enough redundancy to protect your data. Simple as that!

Sorry, you actually only need 3 nodes for RF3.
