An administrator has finished deploying the Citrix backend infrastructure to Xi Leap and needs to expose the Citrix NetScaler VPX private VIP to the internet in order for users to be able to access the Citrix VDI desktops upon a DR failover.

What should the administrator perform in order for public internet access to be allowed to the Citrix NetScaler VPX?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: A

Citrix NetScaler VPXis a virtual appliance that provides web and application load balancing, secure and remote access, acceleration, security and offload features1.To set up and configure a Citrix NetScaler VPX appliance, you need to download it from the Citrix website, install it on a hypervisor such as Citrix XenServer or Microsoft Azure23, and log on to the console using the nsroot credentials2.

To expose the Citrix NetScaler VPX private VIP to the internet in order for users to be able to access the Citrix VDI desktops upon a DR failover, one possible solution is to use afloating IP address. A floating IP address is an IP address that can be dynamically assigned to an instance by using API calls. It allows you to redirect network traffic from one instance to another without changing any DNS settings or client configuration.

Wait, executing a script? Sounds a bit off for this scenario.

I think an FQDN registered in DNS is the way to go.

Disaster recovery node in HA mode? Not sure that’s necessary here.

I vaguely recall something about executing scripts for deployment, but I don’t think that’s what’s needed for public access. It seems more like a setup task.

I’m a bit confused about the HA mode option. Does that really relate to exposing the NetScaler to the internet? I thought it was more about redundancy.

I think we practiced a question similar to this, and I feel like the FQDN registered in DNS might be the key to making it accessible over the internet.

I remember we discussed the importance of having a public-facing IP for the NetScaler, but I'm not sure if it’s just about the Floating IP or if DNS plays a role too.

I feel pretty good about this one. The key is that the administrator needs to expose the Citrix NetScaler VPX to the public internet, so the answer is clearly B - FQDN registered in DNS. That would allow users to access the Citrix VDI desktops through the public-facing domain name.

Okay, let's see here. The question is asking how to expose the Citrix NetScaler VPX to the internet, so I'm thinking it's probably either A or B. Floating IP Address or FQDN registered in DNS. I'm leaning towards B, but I'll need to double-check the details to be sure.

Hmm, I'm a bit unsure about this one. I'm trying to think through the different options, but I'm not entirely confident in my understanding of Citrix networking. I might need to review some of that material before answering.

This seems like a straightforward networking question. I think the answer is B - FQDN registered in DNS, as that would allow public internet access to the Citrix NetScaler VPX.

B) FQDN registered in DNS. Gotta make sure that public DNS points to the right place, right?

Right! Without it, users won't find the VDI.
